Les co-founded the club in  memory of his Mother in Law to raise money for cancer related charities. Les formally worked for Castle Cement Limited, but now is employed by Wonder Grip Limited as their UK Ambassador.

Mr Jon Wormleighton 2011

Jon  is an Area Manager for Hanson Cement and has been involved in the society from the inception. He may have big boots to fill but he has huge feet!!

Mr Simon Gow 2012

Simon is a Director of Springfield Timber & Building Supplies Limited in Bretton near Chester. A member at Heswall GC he looked forward to the challenge of captaincy in 2012—when he could attend an event that was…….only joking Mr Captain….ouch!

Mr Andy Traynor  2013

When Andy joined the society he had taken on responsibility for the website, introduced paypal for payment on the website and has always displayed an outstanding sartorial elegance on the course.  Andy is looking forward to 2013 and raising funds for our sponsored causes.

Mr Harold Tatton 2014

What can we say about ‘H’ simply the best Captain to date. A great supporter of the BMGS and the new BK NOLTE Cup

2015 Captain A Proud Gary Mahon

As well as being a very proud Captain, Gary has been to almost 100% of our events over the years including a very enthusiastic member when on tour. He is also the host of our now annual BMGS AGM event at his renowned  Duck Club (Huntley Unionist Club, Coppice Street) in Bury.

Mr Daron Whiteford 2016 - Boys & Boden Limited

Daron has been a very enthusiastic member of our Society for a number of years, his Captaincy was a natural progression and proved to be the correct decision, Daron also agreed to sponsor the 2016 Hanson Cup.

Mr Peter Sweeney - 2017 - Paramedic Pete

Embraced his Captaincy role like no other, smart, professional, witty and all with a warming smile. Always on hand should first aid is required and accepted first aid himself with good grace.

Mr Nicholas Kelly 2018 Wirral Bulding Supplies

Nick was proud to undertake the duties/roll of the BMGS Captain, he grew in stature and confidence as each event unfolded during the year.

Mr Colin Anderson 2019 - Network Rail

Colin Anderson has embraced his new position as the BMGS Captain  and his enthusiasm is demonstrated through his vitality in his presentations and speeches.

A worthy Captain and embraced becoming Captain of The Builders Merchants Golf Society while starting out as manager of Jewson Stockport

Jody had waited a long time  to become Captain and was well behaved throughout his year, he loves the tradition we hold dear since 2009

Martyn has been a wonderful Captain and although changing is now not required at events Martyn got changed into his BMGS regalia at every event. His term as Captain was cut short but will be welcomed back at NWGC Christmas Open 2024

Looks fantastic in his Captains Jacket for the forthcoming season 2025 and will embrace his year although as Billy says his speeches will be as short as possible, but meant with warmth

2014 to 2020-   The BMGS Welsh Captain Carl Downward

Carl was proud to take over as Welsh Captain from the previous Captain Will Jones in 2014.

In October 2020 the members had elected to continue his tenure for a further twelve months, but sadly this did not proceed !
